FAQ about employees from Lithuania.
Is it possible to meet my potential employees before they start working for me?
If level of English, German, Spanish or other language is an issue then we propose interviewing the candidates by telephone as the most cost effective solution. We can organize telephone interviews for you. If you wish to meet your potential employees, then we can organize interviews for you in Lithuania. Travel and accommodation arrangements would be at your expense.
What about workers certificates compliance?
Certificates, titles and diplomas gained in Eastern Europe are in most cases equivalent to their British counterparts because the education system is quite similar.
Can the workers speak English, German, Spanis or other EU language?
It is very important that you specify the required level of English, German, Spanish or other EU language at the beginning of the recruitment process. For some people knowledge of foreign languages is not common but it changes fast. Generally, the younger generation have a much higher knowledge of foreign languages.
In some professions, a good knowledge of foreign languages is very rare, but it does not exclude high quality of work, productivity and professionalism. We suggest organizing teams, where workers with a low level of foreign language are accompanied by a worker who has better knowledge. Workers with good foreign language skills would not only work as a translators but would also be the foremen of the group and would work as a general laborer. This does not increase the cost to the employer. EWC can organize such teams and you can be sure that communication will not be a problem.
What can I do if the workers are not suitable?
If for any reason the employee is not suitable for work then we have a full refund policy. We offer advice and support throughout the employment process to both parties if issues arise. Different payment and employee management schemes also could be arranged.
What is the length of the employment contract?
Most people are looking for a permanent or medium-term position. However, shorter contracts are also possible. We expect contract of a minimum of 3 months.
When the workers can start?
In normal circumstances, it takes no longer than two to three weeks. If you need somebody sooner please let us know and we will organize the workers as soon as possible. If you have some specific requirements it can take longer for us to provide particular employees.
How can we be sure that the workers will stay till the end of the contract?
Because of the nature of the business, the workers are coming to other EU countries to work for a specific employer in a specific location and for a specific position and will treat the job as long term assignment. As an employee they can terminate the assignment according to their agreement. However, if you treat your employees fairly they will almost certainly stay and work for you till the end of the contract and appreciate the fact that they have a job. We found that employees from Eastern Europe are more reliable and committed to their employer. They are usually very had working, productive and enthusiastic about the work they do.
Where the workers will live?
EWC will not supply workers if there is no accommodation arranged. We can help with looking for accommodation in particular areas. Providing accommodation makes the process faster and easier. In many cases we provide accommodation in fully furnished houses anywhere in Europe.
How much should I pay?
By law, you should pay your new employees the same as you would pay a person from your country doing the same job. Generally, the expectations of Lithuanian workers are reasonable , especially in relation to the quality and quantity of work performed.

Will the workers need a work permit? Are there any legal issues?

EWC can assist workers in the process of different registrations as well as other formalities, related to opening bank account, obtaining National Insurance number etc. The other option is to let them work as self-employed or through EWC as personnel leasing.
